Take all my stuff on the road!

Why on earth hasn't computer manufactures created a switchable hard disk/memory compartment between their computers? Why, because I would like my primary laptop to have a huge 17 inch display, with all bells and whistles. Like this;

When I travel, I would like to snap out the hard disk from the laptop above, and stuff it into new mini pc, like this one;

By doing this, I could bring all daily stuff on the road in a new form factor!

I can only dream!

We bought a Denver TFD-1906 which is a 19" LCD TV with built-in DVD player for our youngest sons birthday. The primary goal is not to watch TV, but watch DVDs and play PlayStation 2. Why did it take me two hours to get the DVD going?

TS-209 Pro RAID 1 Performance

The QNAP TS-209 Pro NAS has great specifications, and at large performs very well.

However, I have just tried to use RAID 1 (this is basic disk mirrors) and my-goodness-great-balls-of-fire, that was slow! I took some 10 hours to copy 20 GB!! Over at the forums at QNAP several folks has complained about slow RAID and USB speeds. Remains to be seen whether a clear advice distills out of that discussion.

I went back to the JBOD (just a bunch of disks), and now have the excellent speed back, but of course no mirroring! Guess I'll wait until the next firmware releases arrives.

Other than that, the 209 rocks regarding features and possibilities!
